What is Daily Extra Region Sudoku?

Daily Extra Region Sudoku adds four extra 3×3 regions to the classic 9×9 grid. These additional regions overlap the standard boxes and must also contain the digits 1 through 9 exactly once. Standard row, column, and 3×3 box rules still apply.

This variant supports all four difficulty levels (Easy, Medium, Hard, Expert) following the weekly schedule. The daily puzzle is the same for every player worldwide, refreshed at midnight UTC.

Extra Region Sudoku Solving Tips

Check Extra Regions First — Before placing a number, verify it doesn't already appear in any extra 3×3 region that contains that cell.
Region Intersections — Cells at the intersection of a standard box and an extra region are the most constrained. Use these to narrow down candidates quickly.
Scan Extra Regions — Scan the four extra regions the same way you scan rows, columns, and boxes. A missing digit often reveals placements across multiple boxes.
Center Cells Matter — The center of the grid has the most overlapping constraints. Solving these early reduces possibilities everywhere.
Cross-Reference — Use extra region constraints together with standard constraints. A number excluded from an extra region position narrows candidates in that row or column.
Use Pencil Marks — Mark candidates considering all constraint groups: rows, columns, standard boxes, and the four extra regions.
Start with Overlaps — Cells that belong to both a standard box and an extra region have the tightest constraints. Prioritize solving these first.
